How to Choose a Size

How to Choose the Perfect Print Size for Your Wall

1. Measure Your Wall Space

Grab a tape measure and note the full open width and height. Accurate measurements prevent prints from feeling too small or cramped.

2. Follow the 60–75% Rule

A print should fill about 60–75% of the open wall area.

Above furniture, aim for ½ to ⅔ the width of the piece below (sofa, bed, console).

3. When in Doubt, Go Larger

Customers almost always wish they had gone bigger.

Mid-large sizes like 20×30 and 24×36 make strong focal points in most homes.

4. Consider Viewing Distance

If you’ll view the artwork from across the room, choose a larger size so details remain visible.

5. Remember the Frame

Frames typically add 2–4 inches per side, and matting adds more.

Make sure the framed size fits your space.

6. Use Tape or Paper to Visualize

Outline the print size on your wall using painter’s tape or paper. This is the easiest way to see scale before you buy.

7. Match the Room’s Scale

Large furniture and open spaces call for larger prints.

Smaller rooms or gallery walls work well with mid-size pieces.

8. Check Ceiling Height

Higher ceilings (9–10 ft) can handle taller artwork.

Lower ceilings pair well with horizontal pieces.

9. Good Lighting Matters

Well-lit areas make artwork pop.

Use natural light or accent lighting where possible.

10. Hang at the Right Height

Center the artwork at 57–60 inches from the floor—industry standard for perfect viewing.

11. Choose a Long-Term Fit

Select sizes versatile enough to work if you redecorate or move. Larger statement pieces tend to adapt well.
