a thought
I create photographs of wild, quiet places—scenes meant to be felt as much as seen. Each print is an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the natural world.
I stumbled upon this scene almost by accident. The day before, I'd been hiking near a quiet pond in Acadia National Park and made a mental note to return at first light. Fall had arrived early that year, leaving the landscape suspended in a hush: no wind, no people, only the quiet shifting of the seasons. I knew crowds of photographers would be there in a few days, but for now, this quiet corner of the Park was entirely mine.
When I returned the next morning, the world looked completely transformed. The rising sun struck the mountainside behind me, igniting the trees in brilliant orange, red, and gold. Their colors spilled onto the water like liquid paint, threading between the lily pads and grasses. The view through the lens felt less like a traditional landscape than an abstract, almost dreamlike composition. The reflection broke the scene into layers of color and texture, turning familiar elements into something otherworldly.
Standing there, surrounded by quiet and color, I felt that rare moment when nature reveals itself in a new way. The pond transformed into a living canvas. A simple outing turned into an unexpected chance to capture the Park's mystical heart: an impressionistic vision of Acadia's beauty that keeps surprising and inspiring me on every return.
